April Ross

April Ross is only one of only a handful of beach volleyball players to have won medals multiple times at an Olympics. She will be competing in Tokyo to compete for her third Olympic medal alongside Alix Klineman, a first time Olympian. Ross's goal is to win her first Olympic Gold. It could be the last time she has the chance as she is 39 years old. But she's still confident of achieving top honours. If we do our highest or perform well, I think we'll be able to win that gold medal Ross stated on NBC Boston. Also, it's an issue of luck. Ross, who was born 1982 and lived in Costa Mesa California with her sister and parents, began playing athletics at the Newport Harbor High School. While at Newport Harbor High School, she was a participant in many activities. When she was a student in the prep school she played basketball, indoor volleyball as well as running track. While she did well at indoor volleyball but it was apparent that her skills were above normal. Based on her biography, she was an outside blocker as well as a middle hitting volleyball player during her senior year at high school. Gatorade Circle Of Champions named her the national Player in 1999. In addition, she was awarded the 1999 Orange County Athlete of the year award for volleyball. Ross and Klineman have been doing what they do from 2017. However, Ross was an important player in the beach volleyball scene before joining the duo. Actually Ross has been a winner of several major tournaments in her career with two partners. One of them is a legend. Jennifer Kessy coached her from 2007 to 2013. Together, Kessy Ross, she was a major force on the international stage, claiming a world title in 2009. This duo went on to win a silver in the 2012 Olympic Games at London. They were defeated for the gold medal by the legendary team comprising Misty and Kerri Walsh (Jennings). Ross Jennings took over for May-Treanor after she announced her retirement. They took home the bronze medal in beach volleyball at Rio Olympics in 2016. Ross played for the USC Trojans in college years after she graduated in high school. Her career was a success in the NCAA tournament. She was a All-American as well as Pac-10 freshman of the year when she was a teen freshman. Additionally, she assisted her Trojans to reach the Final Four. She endured a great personal loss in her sophomore, however, she was capable of achieving the All-American award. The two years following her, she took the Trojans up the mountain and clinched consecutive national championships. As an individual, she established herself as an all-time legend by winning the 2003-04 Honda Sports Award as the most outstanding female college volleyball player. Ross had been an international studies student at USC. Margie Ross was never able to see her daughter make it to the top of the beach volleyball ladder. Ross lost the breast cancer that she battled in 2001. Ross was then a sophomore. As a result, Ross is still near to her mother who passed away. Margie is a constant source of inspiration to her, both on and off the beach.
