April Ross

April Ross, a beach volleyball player American is part of a select group of women who have been awarded medals at multiple Olympics. In Tokyo in the coming days, she'll try to claim her third Olympic medal with fellow the first-time Olympian Alix Klineman. Ross also hopes to get her first Olympic gold. This may be the last chance she'll ever have at age 39. The athlete is optimistic she'll be successful in achieving top honours. Ross on NBC Boston, said that if the team plays consistently or well they can earn a gold. It's also going to be a matter of chance. Ross was born on August 22, 1982, located in Costa Mesa California. She resided there with her family. She was able to participate in many activities at Newport Harbor High School. She was a basketball player and also ran track in addition to her indoor volleyball exploits as a prep athlete. While she did well in indoor volleyball but it was apparent that her skills were above average. In her time at high school, she played middle blocker, outside hitter and setter at the tennis court as per her bio at the college. Gatorade Circle of Champions named her as the National Player 1999. The year 2000 was the time she was awarded the Orange County Athlete of the of the year for volleyball. Ross and Klineman started the partnership in 2017, however, Ross has been a beach player for years prior to. She has won major events twice, with various partners. The other is an icon of the world of volleyball. Jennifer Kessy coached her from 2007 through 2013. Together with Kessy Ross was a force on the international stage, claiming the world championship in 2009. They won a Silver Medal in the 2012 Olympic Games held in London. Misty Maytreanor (Jennings) as well as Misty Maytreanor clinched gold ahead of them. Ross became Walsh Jennings new partner after May-Treanor's departure. The pair won the beach volleyball bronze in the Rio Olympics in 2016. Ross began her college professional career playing for the Trojans of USC in graduation from high school. It was a long time before Ross went to the sand and turned professional. Ross's time in the Trojans was impressive. She was a All-American and Pac-10 Freshman of Year in 2000 as a young freshman. Also, she was one of the key players for helping the Trojans make it to the Final Four. During her sophomore year she suffered a tremendous personal loss but still managed to repeat as an All-American. The two years following her she led the Trojans up to the summit and took home consecutive national championships. Individually she had cemented her place as a legend by winning the 2003-2004 Honda Sports Award as the nation's top female collegiate volleyball player. Ross played international relations as a major at USC. Margie Ross, Ross' mother, did not have the chance to watch her daughter become the beach volleyball's biggest star. In 2001 when Ross was in her sophomore year studying at USC her mother died of breast cancer. But, she will always keep her mother's memory close and dear. And Margie continues to be an inspiration to her on the beach as well as in everyday the world of.
