April Ross
April Ross, a beach volleyball player from the United States is part of a select group of women who have had medals won in multiple Olympics. She will be competing in Tokyo for her 3rd Olympic gold medal along with Alix Klineman, a first-time Olympian. Ross's goal is to win her first Olympic Gold. As she is 39 she could have her last chance. Still confident but she is not sure. Ross told NBC Boston that if they play their best, and even play well her team can win a gold medal. "I'm trying to also try some luck." Ross was born in Costa Mesa, California in the year 1982. Her parents as well as her sister lived there. Ross competed in many activities while at Newport Harbor High School. Being a pre-athlete she played indoor volleyball and track. When she played in the final sport, she clearly stood out. Based on her bio, she was an outside blocker as well as a middle hitter on the volleyball court during her senior year at high school. In recognition of her accomplishments, she received the Gatorade Award for the National Player of 1999. Also, she won the award in 2000. Orange County Athlete of the Award for volleyball. Ross and Klineman have been doing what they do from the year 2017. The reality is that Ross played a significant role in the beach volleyball scene before the pairing. She's won big competitions with different players. A couple of those is an icon in the world of volleyball. Jennifer Kessy coached her from 2007 through the year 2013. Ross, Kessy's fellow teammate who won the world title with Kessy in 2009, was also significant on the an international level. In the 2012 Olympic Games, they won the gold medal. Misty Maytreanor (Jennings) and Misty Maytreanor clinched gold ahead of them. Ross became Walsh Jennings new partner after May-Treanor's resignation. Both went on to win the bronze beach volleyball trophy at the Rio Olympics 2016 with Walsh Jennings. Ross participated in the Trojans at USC during her the college years following her graduation from in high school. Ross had an impressive run during her time in the NCAA tournament. She was an All-American and Pac-10 freshman of the year in 2000 as a young freshman. The Trojans made it to the Final Four. She suffered a devastating personal loss in her sophomore season and yet she went on to repeat as an All-American. In her last two years of participation in the Trojans team, she led the Trojans to winning a national title each year. Individually she had cemented her place as a legend having won the 2003-2004 Honda Sports Award as the nation's top female collegiate volleyball player. Ross studied international relations at USC. Margie Ross did not get to witness her daughter's climb to fame as a beach volleyball player. As of 2001, when Ross was in her sophomore year studying at USC her mother passed away due to breast cancer. She continues to cherish her late parent. Margie is a beach lover and in daily life, is still a source of inspiration for her.
